Dear Ms. Tuchman:

We acknowledge receipt of your correspondence dated on July 16, 2015, on behalf of the Zionist Organization of America, informing Air France that one of our passengers recently contacted your organization in connection with a flight map display that was viewed during a recent flight from Los Angeles, California to Tel Aviv, Israel via Paris.

The complaint was, essentially, that the flight map failed to identify the country of Israel while identifying neighbouring countries, and in some cases, cities.

Needless to say, Air France deeply regrets this event as well as any unintended offense that it may have caused.
We can fully understand that your Office fights against anti-Semitism, and we are very sincerely sorry to learn of our passenger’s belief that the flyover map was in some way intentionally discriminatory.

Air France is an international airline that has scheduled passenger service to countries throughout the world. As has been explained on at least one occasion by our corporate office, the omission of the designation of Israel was caused by a problem due to the map scale, and this is in the process of being corrected.

Needless to say, Air France deeply regrets this event as well as any unintended offense that it may have caused.

Thank you, Ms. Tuchman, for having contacted us on behalf of an Air France passenger.

Very truly yours,

Remi Couturier
