Senator Bernie Sanders is bringing a resolution to the Senate floor today that accuses Israel of war crimes against the Palestinians in Gaza and demands that the State Department issue a report on “potential violations of internationally recognized human rights by Israel.”
Israel is at war in Gaza because Hamas brutally murdered 1,200 men, women, and children and kidnapped nearly 200 more on October 7. Sanders’ resolution never mentions the fact that Hamas uses Palestinian civilians as human shields and has implanted its rockets, arms, attack tunnels, and military personnel inside, next to, and under civilian locations in Gaza, including homes, schools, and mosques.
This resolution is another assault by Sen. Sanders against the legitimacy of the State of Israel and against Israel’s right to defend its citizens from terrorist attacks.
We know that Sanders’ anti-Israel and antisemitic comrades on the “Squad” will support him, but it is imperative that the rest of the Senate vote down this terrible measure.
