Statehood questioned

Ori Nir of Americans for Peace Now contends that “Most American Jewish groups are either silent, or worse, are seeking excuses to avoid supporting this peace effort” (“Jewish groups should rally behind Annapolis,” WJW, Nov. 22). But it is AFPN that needs to explain how it can support the idea of massive territorial concessions to a Palestinian Authority that is an unreformed, unaccountable, terrorist-sponsoring entity.

Unfortunately, Palestinians want their own state less than they want to end Jewish statehood. To set up a Palestinian state dedicated to eliminating Israel will clearly endanger it.

That’s why former Israeli army chief Gen. Yaalon, former CIA director R. James Woolsey and eminent Middle East historian Bernard Lewis, among others, have warned against a Palestinian state under current conditions.
