(IsraelNN.com) The Zionist Organization of America has condemned the United States government’s Office for Civil Rights for failing to protect Jewish students at University of California, Irvine. The Office for Civil Rights recently decided that a series of Muslim speeches and rallies on the campus were anti-Israel, not anti-Semitic, and therefore did not target Jewish students based on their national background.

ZOA disputed the decision, saying that many attacks have been decidedly anti-Semitic in nature. As examples, the group said that swastikas were painted on campus, that a Holocaust memorial had been destroyed, and that Jews had faced anti-Semitic epithets such as “slaughter the Jew,” “go back to Russia,” and “dirty Jew.” The OCR decision showed a lack of concern for Jewish students’ psychological and physical well-being, the group said, calling the decision “a disgrace.”
