ZOA: WHITE HOUSE ANTISEMITISM ROUNDTABLE A POLITICAL EXERCISE, EXPLOITING JEW-HATRED FOR PARTISAN GAIN

The Zionist Organization of America and other Jewish groups who have criticized left-wing Jew-hatred and Biden’s hostile-to-Israel policies and appointments have been purposely excluded from the event.

NEW YORK, NY (December 6, 2022) – The Zionist Organization of America, the leading major American Jewish organization unapologetically defending Israel and the Jewish people, was not invited to the roundtable on antisemitism, announced Monday by the White House and set to be hosted Wednesday by Vice President Kamala Harris’ husband, Doug Emhoff.

ZOA National President Morton A. Klein stated, “The White House is excluding ZOA and other groups who have criticized left-wing antisemitism like the Coalition for Jewish Values (group of 2000 Rabbis) and the Jewish Leadership Project such as the Coalition for Jewish Values making it obvious that this is nothing but a partisan event exploiting Jew-hatred and that the Biden administration are using Jews as a cudgel to beat their political opponents.

“Antisemitism is possibly the one position right-wing and left-wing extremists agree on and politicizing the suffering of the Jewish people is inexcusable. While this roundtable is a good first step, there’ve been numerous opportunities for the administration to act against left-wing campus Jew-hatred, the epidemic of physical assaults on Jews, and the antisemitic statements by certain members of Congress,” Klein continued.

“ZOA has been the leading pro-Israel organization since a half century before the founding of the modern Jewish state. We led the charge for including Jewish students under the protections of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act; in fact, we were alone for much of that battle. ZOA is a strictly non-partisan organization that fights Jew-hatred regardless of its source. The White House should as well. Instead, Biden has actually appointed almost two dozen officials who are hostile to Israel to important posts. ZOA meticulously documents this outrageous reality.”

“The ZOA’s Center for Law and Justice fights antisemitism and anti-Israel bias in the media, in schools, and on college campuses,” said CLJ Director Susan B. Tuchman, Esq. “Sadly, college campuses are hotbeds of Jew-hatred where left-wing radicals target pro-Israel and Jewish students and faculty. We have filed more cases and engaged more educational entities through the legal process to battle Jew-hatred under Title VI of the Civil Rights Act than any other organization. Any serious effort to combat antisemitism would benefit from our experience, expertise, and actual accomplishments we’ve achieved in this area.”

Founded in 1897, ZOA played a key role in the re-establishment of the Jewish State. Today, it is the most impactful organization in America, courageously defending Israel and the Jewish people, fighting all forms of antisemitism, and promoting the Jewish people’s lawful right to settle and live in historic Jewish lands. In fact, The Forward newspaper has named several of ZOA’s top leaders as among the most important Jewish leaders in America. ZOA makes clear that a Palestinian Arab state would lead to even more Palestinian Arab terrorist attacks against Israel’s Jews, including missile attacks from the Palestinian Arab areas, just as we’ve seen from the Hamas-Gaza area.

ZOA’s bold, unapologetic voice has a significant and enduring impact on public policy, helping to initiate the law to move the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem, and the national conversation, with numerous appearances before congressional committees. ZOA further provides free legal assistance and programs to victims of terrorism in America and Israel, as well as Jewish and pro-Israel students at numerous schools and college campuses.
