Several weeks ago, two FBI agents came to the private home of Zionist Organization of America (ZOA) National President Morton A. Klein and warned him that there was an Iranian threat, cyber and otherwise, against ZOA and him. This was the second time that FBI agents visited Morton Klein at his home. The previous time, the agents instructed Mr. Klein and his wife to immediately have new passports issued. The agents said that they have reliable information that Iranian agents have a copy of their present passports, and may well use them for sinister ends.
Morton Klein said, “My wife and I were surely temporarily shaken, nevertheless I wear Iran’s threats and actions against ZOA and me as a badge of honor. I have spent the last 31 years of my life working to defend the State of Israel and my fellow Jews against all our enemies. That they are targeting me means the work I and ZOA did, and am doing now, is a significant threat to them. I am more determined than ever to continue fighting for Israel’s, the Jewish people’s and Jewish students’ security.”
ZOA National Executive Director Alan Jay said, “This Iranian threat against my devoted and fearless ZOA colleague and close friend Morton Klein is repugnant. The Tehran regime, whose collapse we must all work toward, has targeted former senior U.S. and Israeli officials, and ZOA has long advocated for strong U.S. retaliation for these plots and attacks. Meanwhile, it’s important to protect Morton Klein, ZOA and others in the vanguard against the Iranian axis including Hamas, Hezbollah and the Palestinian Authority.”
This isn’t the first time that ZOA’s Morton Klein has been targeted for cyber and physical attacks from the Iran and other Islamists (Syria’s Assad and the Palestinian Authority’s Arafat have put out statements attacking ZOA and Morton Klein in the past). As you can clearly see, ZOA’s impactful work is threatening the Islamic Republic so much that they are doing everything in their power to stop us.
Among many statements ZOA has released on Iran includes the following:
“ZOA has been pointing out for years that Robert Malley was wrong for the job of Envoy to Iran. He has exhibited extreme hostility to Israel, sympathy for the Iranian regime, had contacts with Hamas, and many statements favoring appeasement of Iran. Malley even wrote anti-Israel screeds in his Yale college newspaper.
“Former State Department advisor on Iran, Gabriel Noronha, pointed out that Ali Vaez, who was quoted in the released emails pledging allegiance to Iran’s Foreign Minster Javad Zarif, visited the White House five times in the past 20 months. There has been a successful penetration of our country’s foreign policy and defense policy infrastructure, and the Biden administration is not reacting appropriately.” Real harm is continuing to the national security of the United States.
“ZOA also demands that Robert Malley be prosecuted for his apparent betrayal of our country. We also call on Princeton University and Yale to suspend him from his high prestige posts at those institutions.”
“It is shocking and dangerous the way that the State Department reacted to this crisis. The spokesman rejected any characterization of the Iran Experts Initiative as a ‘spy ring,’ and defended appointing Ariane Tabatabai to the State and Defense Departments because of her expertise on nuclear and other foreign policy issues.” Amazingly, she has retained her Top Secret clearance and remains on the job even now, although her boss has announced he is reviewing her access to classified information. It is uncontested that Ms. Tabatabai sought the Iranian government’s input on a congressional briefing that she gave in 2014, and she literally asked Iranian permission to attend a conference in Israel, which her Iranian handlers did not approve.
“It is frightening to find Democratic leaders silent on the issue so far. The media response is also thoroughly inadequate considering the critical nature of the breech. ZOA urges a bipartisan drive to get to the bottom of this influence operation. “It’s especially important to remember Iran’s role when the Biden administration is lifting sanctions to allow the Islamic Republic of Iran to receive $6 billion; further enriching Iran by failing to enforce other sanctions; and still trying to broker deals with Iran. Iran, its Supreme Leader, and its top agencies (IRGC, MOIS) had a major role in planning the attacks on the U.S.; and in recruiting, training and facilitating the travel of the 9/11 terrorists (including training the 9-11 terrorist on flight simulators in Teheran, Iran); and in providing safe havens for leading al-Qaeda operatives to continue their terror operations after 9/11.” (see: “ZOA Mourns the Innocent Victims of 9/11 and Remembers Iran’s and Iranian Poxy Hezbollah’s Major Role in 9-11,” September 11, 2023)
“Why has Biden intentionally strengthened Iran since day one of his administration, and been attempting to provide ‘humanitarian aid’ to Gaza, when he knows that Hamas steals the vast majority of this aid? Is there a sinister antisemitic answer to this question, especially when Biden is now attempting to protect Iran from a strong Israeli response and is protecting Hamas by demanding a unilateral, unconditional ceasefire and demanding that Israel not enter Rafah, and illegally finding ways to provide the terrorist Palestinian Authority regime with $800 million (violating the Taylor Force Act), and demanding a Palestinian State — which would surely be a dangerous terror state run by terrorist dictator Mahmoud Abbas and Hamas?” (see: “ZOA Condemns Biden Opposing Israeli Action Against Islamic Terrorist Nation Iran – Head of Hamas, Hezbollah Encircling Terrorist Snake,” April 13, 2024)
ZOA has also spoken out consistently against the Iran deal, including running a campaign entitled, “No Nuclear Holocaust,” and ZOA Director of Government Relations regularly educates elected officials on Capitol Hill about the dangerous reality of a nuclear Iran and the consequences it would mean for the U.S., Israel and the entire western world.
