ZOA Criticizes AJC’s Deutsch, ADL’s Foxman, Biden Envoy Lipstadt, 6 Jewish Democratic Senators for Joining Reform, ADL’s Greenblatt, etc. in Betraying Jewish Students by Attacking Trump Admin. Actions Fighting Campus Antisemitism

Zionist Organization of America (ZOA) National President Morton A. Klein released the following statement:

Commencing in 2004, ZOA fought, virtually organizationally alone, an ultimately successful six-year battle to reinterpret Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 to include Jewish students within its protections from discrimination and harassment. Throughout the next 15 years, as we brought the first and numerous more claims against hostile-to-Jews universities on behalf of Jewish students, ZOA urged administration after administration to invoke the strong legal penalties against the recalcitrant universities who continued to fail to protect Jewish students from attacks and harassment. Thankfully, we finally have an administration which is doing exactly what needs to be done to protect Jewish students – namely, deporting the illegal foreign Hamas-supporters who are attacking and harassing Jewish students; and legally cutting funding as the civil rights laws permit, and even require, to the universities that have repeatedly failed to protect Jewish students and discipline antisemitic perpetrators. But instead of thanking the administration, an echo chamber of unappreciative, mindlessly Trump-hating left wing Jews and Jewish groups are betraying Jewish students by attacking the Trump administration’s important actions to help and protect Jewish students. We at ZOA strongly thank President Trump.

The latest betrayals of our Jewish students were issued by AJC CEO Ted Deutsch, ADL National Director Emeritus Abe Foxman, and Biden’s Antisemitism Envoy Deborah Lipstadt. Specifically:

  • AJC CEO Ted Deutsch insisted this week that due process for foreign Hamas-supporters “must be front and center.” Actually, protecting Jewish students from non-stop attacks and harassment must be front and center!! Would Deutsch say that “due process must be front and center” for those who attack Black or LGBTQ students? Deutsch also wrongly accused the administration of “dropping the hammer” (meaning, funding cuts) before “the conversations” with universities take place. In fact, “the conversations” attempting to push universities to do the right thing have been taking place for decades – and nothing happened! AJC’s Deutsch also promoted that favorite inaccurate excuse for doing nothing – fear of “backlash.” AJC’s demand for still more delays is a betrayal of every Jewish student who needs strong action now.
  • ADL National Director Emeritus Abe Foxman outrageously tried to liken Trump’s actions against foreign Hamas attackers of Jewish students to early-Nazi-period actions against Jews, during Foxman’s speech at the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum this week. Foxman outrageously called arrests to deport radical, illegal alien Jew-haters “people being abducted from the streets” and “demonization” of immigrants; and called efforts to possibly curb foreign-funded radical Islamist professors from spouting antisemitic lies to indoctrinate students to hate Jews “the government trying to dictate what universities should teach.” Why isn’t Foxman talking about that Hamas-allied Qatar gave huge funds to American universities “to dictate what universities should teach?”

(This is reminiscent of Foxman outrageously, irrationally and dangerously proclaiming that he will no longer support Israel if judicial reform is instituted.)

  • Biden’s Envoy to Combat Antisemitism Deborah Lipstadt hypocritically accused President Trump of having “gone way too far” in combating antisemitism, and “potential weaponizing, politicizing of antisemitism,” and turning it “into a partisan issue.” Of course, it is left-wingers such as Lipstadt who are turning antisemitism into a partisan issue and weaponizing the issue for their own political purposes – instead of putting the needs of Jewish students first and foremost. Later, Lipstadt, (who has wrongly claimed that Jew-hating, Israel-bashing CAIR has moderated) said, “I don’t oppose many of the things that are being done. I just wish they would be done more deftly.” Huh? Finally, after decades of inaction, a U.S. president takes real action to protect Jewish students, and Lipstadt is complaining that it wasn’t done “deftly” enough?

Deutsch, Foxman and Lipstadt have now joined ADL CEO Jonathan Greenblatt, Hillel’s CEO Adam Lehman, JCPA head and former J Street press secretary Amy Spitalnick, and Reform, Conservative, Natl Council of Jewish Women, HIAS, a largely non-Jewish group helping to bring unvetted Muslims to America and Reconstructionist leaders in condemning the president who is finally acting to stop the horrendous harassment and attacks on Jewish students.
