PHILADELPHIA- Instead of just protesting against anti-Israel media bias, pro-Israel activists in Philadelphia have come up with a uniquely effective response: they’ve organized a radio show of their own.

“The ZOA Middle East Report,” sponsored by the Greater Philadelphia District of the Zionist Organization of America (ZOA), airs every Friday afternoon at 3:30, on WNWR-AM Radio 1540. It can also be heard live on the internet, at www.wnwr.com (previous shows are also available at the web site).

The show features a news segment with the latest updates on the threats facing Israel and world Jewry; information about Arab and Muslim extremists that is rarely published by the mainstream media; a segment of positive news from Israel, including technological or health innovations; live interviews with in-studio guests as well as phone-in guests; and lively commentary. The show also accepts phone calls from listeners.

Guests who have already appeared on the show include: Mideast scholar Dr. Daniel Pipes; Mark Regev, chief spokesman for the Israeli Embassy in Washington; Giora Becher, Israel Consul-General for seven states; and Frank Gaffney, Jr., founder and president of the Center for Security Policy in Washington.

Philadelphia ZOA executive director Steve Feldman, who created “The ZOA Middle East Report,” serves as its lead host. Feldman is a veteran news reporter, columnist and editor who has worked both in radio and the print media, and has won eight national writing awards.

George Shore, Ph.D. is co-host. A member of the Philadelphia ZOA’s executive committee, Dr. Shore is a consultant for the Capital Markets Group of Delotte & Touche. He is an expert in comparative European and Israeli military strategy, and is a graduate of Dickinson College (B.A.), Cornell University (MBA), and Temple University (Ph.D.)

Philadelphia ZOA president Lori Lowenthal Marcus, Esq., serves as a commentator on the show and takes part in interviewing guests. An attorney, she is a graduate of Brandeis University and earned two master’s degrees from Bryn Mawr College Graduate School, one in Law and Social Policy and one in Policy and Program Development. She is also a graduate of Harvard Law School, where she was designated “Outstanding Female Graduate” by the National Women’s Bar Association.
