New York – While Sharon and other Israeli officials gathered to discuss a so-called “cease-fire” with Palestinian Authority (PA) leader and Holocaust denier Mahmoud Abbas, the official PA-TV playing official sermons by religious leaders calling for Israel’s destruction. On Friday, February 2, 2005, senior religious leader Ibrahim Mudyris said in his PA-TV sermon,
“We tell you Palestine, we shall return to you, by Allah’s will. We shall return to every village, every town, every grain of earth which was quenched by the blood of our grandparents and the sweat of our fathers and mothers. Our willingness to return to the 1967 borders doesn’t mean that we have given up on the land of Palestine…We might be able to use diplomacy to return to 1967 borders, but we shall not be able to use diplomacy to return to the 1948 borders…it does not mean we have given up on Jerusalem, Haifa, Jaffa, Lod, Ramla, Netanya and Tel Aviv. Never.
“We shall return to every village we had been expelled from, by Allah’s will. All the international laws deny the Palestinians their real borders. In the name of Allah, our grandfather’s blood demands that we return to them. Your father’s blood was shed there, at the villages, at Ashkelon, Ashdod…hundreds of villages and towns…it shall curse anyone who will concede a grain of earth of those villages.” (courtesy Palestinian Media Watch (PMW) report)
In addition, on the very day of the “peace” meetings between Sharon and Abbas, an official PA website features a caricature of “Sharon the Butcher.” It shows Ariel Sharon as a butcher holding a bloody butcher knife over a bleeding baby that’s lying on a butcher block. Behind him are two Palestinian Arabs hanging on meat hooks. The Zionist Organization of America (ZOA) President Morton A. Klein said, “If PA-TV and PA web sites continue to educate ordinary Palestinian Arabs to hate Israel and want to destroy it, peace will be impossible. Mahmoud Abbas, as President of the PA, has control over his official PA-TV web sites, why then does he continue this horrific incitement.
“The PA promised 11 years ago at Oslo and two years ago with the Road Map to end this incitement against Jews and Israel. But to no avail.
“Why does the Bush Administration press ahead with a huge increase of US Aid to the PA in the amount of $350M. We urge Congress to reject this aid until Abbas ends the incitement against Jews and Israel, dismantles and disarms the terror groups, arrests the terrorists, and closes the bomb factories.”
