PA Ambassador to Brazil: “Israel Must Disappear,” PA Official Zaki: Israel’s Destruction, “Cannot Be Accomplished in One Go”

The Zionist Organization of America (ZOA) has pointed to the latest Palestinian Authority/Fatah (Fatah is Abbas’ ruling party) declarations of intent to destroy Israel over time. According to a report by Reinaldo Azevedo in Veja-Brazil, the country’s largest magazine, the PA ambassador to Brazil, Alzeben Ibrahim, stated this week to a group of university students that “Israel should disappear.” As Azezedo observed, “Thus it was evident that he did not mean Israel must disappear from the West Bank, but wiped off the map as [Iranian president Mahmoud] Ahmadinejad preached” (Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations Daily Alert, October 5, 2011).

Also, a former PA ambassador to Lebanon and a senior Fatah official, Abbas Zaki, openly said on Al-Jazeera that while the PA publicly demands a state on the pre-1967 armistice lines and claims that a peace “settlement should be based upon these borders, President [Abbas] understands, we understand, and everybody knows that the greater goal cannot be accomplished in one go. If Israel withdraws from Jerusalem, evacuates the 650,000 settlers, and dismantles the wall – what will become of Israel? It will come to an end” (‘Fatah Central Committee Member Abbas Zaki Calls Netanyahu and Obama “Scumbags” and Says: “The Greater Goal Cannot Be Accomplished in One Go,”’ Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI), September 23, 2011).

Abbas Zaki has previously described the U.S. as an “enemy country,” insisted that the PLO platform has not changed “one iota,” openly supported suicide bombing attacks on Israeli civilians and championed the Palestinian use of negotiations alongside continued terrorism. (The ZOA compiled a list of vicious statements by Abbas Zaki, which can be found here).

ZOA National President Morton A. Klein said, “One day, historians will marvel that, with all the abundant, overflowing evidence of PA bad faith, continuing extremism, glorification of terror and commitment to destroying Israel, anyone could actually ask Israel with a straight face to trust the PA and make concessions to it.  How can the US or anyone support a Palestinian State, when it clearly will become yet another Arab terrorist, racist state?

“The Fatah/PA was, is and remains a vile, racist terrorist movement committed to the destruction of the Jewish state of Israel. Let us not forget that, only last month, the PLO ambassador in Washington – someone upgraded to that rank due to a decision of the Obama Administration – reiterated in stark terms the PA position that it intends to create a Palestinian state in which no Jews will be permitted to live. Whereas Israel has a large Arab and Muslim minority, the Palestinians openly demand that their state be judenrein.

“On any reasonable accounting, it is clear that Abbas’ PA has no intention of making a permanent peace and establishing a peaceful state alongside Israel. As we have said innumerable times, the PA is not a peace partner and all ties and financial aid to it should be cut. In this context, we applaud the withholding of aid to the PA by the U.S. Congress and urge President Obama to adopt this policy.”
