Zionist Organization of America (ZOA) National President Morton A. Klein released the following statement:
ZOA is in awe of the brilliant job Israel is doing to make the Middle East and the entire world safer by pre-emptively striking the Iranian regime’s nuclear sites, military leadership, lead nuclear scientists, missile launchers and deadly ballistic missile stockpiles.
Israel waited to strike until after the 60-day negotiating period that President Trump generously gave Iran expired. Iran had stalled and used the negotiations to buy time, while Iran sped up its efforts to enrich uranium to near-weapons-grade levels; advance its efforts to produce nuclear bombs; and increase, hide and protect its deadly ballistic missile arsenal. On Thursday morning, June 12, for the first time in twenty years, the Board of Governors of the United Nations International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) almost unanimously (except for Russia, China and Burkina Faso) passed a resolution declaring Iran to be in breach of its nuclear non-proliferation obligations. Instead of agreeing to comply with its obligations, Iran then announced that it would create yet another new uranium enrichment facility.
Israel thereafter justifiably and precisely attacked Iran’s military and nuclear targets to prevent Iran from carrying out its imminent existential threats of “Death to Israel, Death to America.”
By contrast, Iran’s rogue regime has been targeting Israeli civilians with drones and with barrages of (thus far) 370 huge ballistic missiles during the past four days. As of this (Tuesday) morning, Iran’s strikes on Israel have murdered 24 Israelis (including children) and injured 592 Israelis. We mourn and pray for all our murdered and injured brothers and sisters. At the same time, we are inspired by the Israeli people’s resilience in the face of this carnage. It is also deeply encouraging to see the unified determination of both the Israeli Left and the Israeli Right to make the world a safer place for their and our children by courageously continuing to demolish Iran’s nuclear facilities and missile arsenal.
ZOA also deeply appreciates President Trump’s and the United States’ statements of support, and vital defense assistance, including deploying aircraft carriers to the region and intercepting missiles and drones launched at Israel from Iran and Iraq.
ZOA urges the U.S. administration to take the additional step of supplying Israel with the Massive Ordnance Penetrators (GBU57 MOPs a.k.a ‘bunker busters’) and B-2 bombers. (There are some reports that the U.S. has done so.) These may be the only weapons (other than a nuclear bomb) capable of destroying Iran’s deep underground advanced nuclear facilities at Fordow. Israel has cleared away Iran’s air defenses. Thus, this is the ideal time – and a chance that may never come again – to destroy Iran’s dangerous underground nuclear program. The world will regret it for years to come if we lose the opportunity to make the world safe from Iran’s hardened underground nuclear facilities.
No one came to Assad’s aid when Assad was overthrown. Likewise, no one came to Hezbollah’s aid when Israel wiped out Nasrallah and the top Hezbollah terrorists. Similarly, it is unlikely that any nation will intervene on Iran’s behalf if the U.S. provides this assistance. By contrast, if Iran is able to rebuild and obtain nuclear weapons and more ballistic missiles, it will set off a dangerous nuclear arms race throughout the middle east.
Destroying Iran’s nuclear facilities is in America’s self-interest as well as in the interest of our ally Israel. Iran has been at war with the United States ever since Iranian Islamists invaded the U.S. embassy in Teheran in 1979, and held and tortured American citizens and diplomats hostage for 444 days. A U.S. federal court confirmed Iran’s role in planning, funding, training pilots for and facilitating 9/11 (also discussed in the official U.S. 9/11 report). Iran and its proxies are responsible for murdering hundreds of Americans at the Beirut embassy and barracks, the U.S. embassies in Tanzania and Kenya, Khobar Towers, the U.S.S. Cole, and locations throughout Iraq. Iran attacked and seized a (U.S.-associated) Marshall Islands-flagged oil tanker in international waters just last year. Iranian proxies have already launched drones at U.S. forces in Iraq in recent days. Iran also currently has a “hit list” of dozens of American officials and former officials who Iranian agents are attempting to assassinate.
Furthermore, two FBI agents came to ZOA President Morton Klein’s home two months ago to inform him and his wife that he is also on an Iranian hit list.
Destroying Iran’s nuclear and ballistic missile capabilities is the surest road to peace in the Middle East and the world. As President Trump explained this weekend, “For those people who say they want peace—you can’t have peace if Iran has a nuclear weapon. So for all of those wonderful people who don’t want to do anything about Iran having a nuclear weapon—that’s not peace.”
