ZOA’s Morton Klein’s Open Letter to Kevin Roberts, President of Heritage Foundation, on Reneging His Promise to Klein to Publicly Denounce Jew-Hater Tucker Carlson – JNS
News Op-Ed ZOA in the news
February 16, 2026

Kevin D. Roberts, PhD
President
The Heritage Foundation
214 Massachusetts Ave NE
Washington, D.C. 20002-4999

Dear Dr. Roberts,

Thank you for our meeting at the Heritage Foundation in December, 2025. I very much appreciated our detailed, cordial discussion about the Zionist Organization of America (ZOA)’s concerns about you and the Heritage Foundation defending and allying with Tucker Carlson, who used to condemn Pat Buchanan as a Jew-hater and has now transformed himself into a vicious blood libeler and propagandist against the Jewish people, Israel and American interests.

I also appreciated your apology for your language calling persons objecting to Tucker Carlson’s dangerous antisemitism as a “venomous coalition,” and declaring that the Heritage Foundation would always defend Carlson against “the slander of bad actors who serve someone else’s agenda.” Especially because this type of inflammatory language has a history of being used by antisemites to attack the Jewish people.

I furthermore appreciated your statement that you understood my concerns; your agreement that many of Tucker Carlson’s statements were concerning; and your promises to soon publicly denounce Tucker Carlson, demand that Carlson retract his odious, bigoted positions and statements, end Heritage Foundation funding of Carlson, and distance yourself and the Heritage Foundation from Tucker Carlson’s future Jew-baiting statements and other hideous declarations. I was also gratified by your promise to invite me to speak at Heritage on the Arab-Israeli situation and by your offer to even come to my home outside of Philadelphia for our next meeting.

Unfortunately, it is now over six weeks since we met, and you and Heritage have not, to my knowledge, denounced, cut off Carlson, made the promised demands on Tucker Carlson, or distanced yourselves from any of Tucker Carlson’s many recent and recently revealed radical statements. Please let me know when you could fulfill the promise that you made to me. This is the honorable, moral and just action to take. It’s the right thing for you, Heritage and America.

In addition to the long list of Carlson’s dangerous, anti-American, antisemitic and anti-Israel statements that I provided to you during our meeting, some of Carlson’s barrage of recent (since we met) anti-American, anti-Israel and antisemitic statements are listed at the end of this letter.

As we discussed in December, and as demonstrated by the items I provided during our meeting and the recent items set forth below, Tucker Carlson’s statements and actions are disturbing, dangerous, bigoted and contrary to Trump administration policy, U.S. interests and security. Indeed, President Trump himself has admonished Carlson’s dangerous willingness to enable the bloodthirsty Iranian regime to build nuclear weapons to destroy Israel and the West. On June 16, 2025, the President wrote on Truth Social: “Somebody please explain to kooky Tucker Carlson that IRAN CAN NOT HAVE A NUCLEAR WEAPON!” and “AMERICA FIRST means many GREAT things, including the fact that, IRAN CAN NOT HAVE A NUCLEAR WEAPON. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!!!”

It is deeply disappointing that you and the Heritage Foundation, who claim to support the United States and the Trump administration, have still apparently said nothing about Tucker Carlson.

I respectfully and strongly urge you to promptly remedy this state of affairs and to follow through on your promises during our December meeting.

Sincerely,

Morton A. Klein
National President
Zionist Organization of America (ZOA)
New York, NY

Tucker Carlson’s Extremely Concerning Statements, Interviews, etc. Since Our December Meeting:

  • In his January 2026 newsletter, Carlson absurdly claimed that if the Iranian regime obtains a nuclear bomb, there was “zero chance” that Iran would use it; and that a nuclear-armed Iran could be a “good thing” because it could “prompt America to leave the area alone,” incentivize Israel to drop its security goals in the West Bank (Judea Samaria) and Gaza, make Iran less oppressive to its people, and curb “the West’s constant decapitation ambitions.”
  • Carlson further outrageously asserted in his January 2026 newsletter that North Korea’s nuclear bomb has been a “good thing” and “stabilized” its peninsula.
  • On January 8, 2026, while the Iranian regime and its Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (a U.S.-designated terrorist organization) were murdering massive numbers of innocent Iranian citizens (approaching 50,000 slaughtered) on Iran’s streets, IRGC television was broadcasting Tucker Carlson’s pro-Iranian-regime Islamist propaganda in Persian.
  • On February 4, 2026, Carlson posted a lengthy and disgraceful video falsely claiming that the “U.S.-funded Israeli government” mistreats Christians and makes it difficult for Christians to visit holy sites, and that Muslim Arab nations treat Christians better than Israel does. This gross antisemitic libel bears no resemblance to reality: It is a grotesque lie! Israel is the only nation in the Middle East where the Christian population has steadily increased and that guarantees Christians freedom of worship and access to Christian holy sites. Bethlehem used to be 80% Christian — when Arafat and the Muslims took control, the Christian population were treated so badly that now only 10% of Bethlehem is Christian. Senator Connie Mack and I met with a group of Bethlehem Christians in the late 90’s and they described how horrific was their treatment under Arab Muslim rule. Under Jordanian rule of Jerusalem in the 50’s, the majority of Christians there fled. Christians weren’t allowed to build Churches or renovate Churches and they were forced to teach Islam in their Christian schools. Christians living in Israel countered Carlson’s outrageous blood libels. For instance, Shadi Khaloul posted: “I’m a Christian in Israel. Tucker Carlson attacks my home, claiming Christians are better off in Qatar. Really? Israel’s Christians are full citizens. We vote, serve in the army, and hold Knesset seats. In Qatar, 400,000 Christians are mostly migrant workers, confined to six government-controlled churches. I’m done letting him smear Israel.”
  • On January 30, 2026, Carlson posted an almost two-and-a-half-hour interview giving a podium to notorious Turkish-American leftwing Israel-basher/defamer Cenk Uygur, in which Uygur continually smeared Israel with blood libels, including falsely accusing Israel of committing genocide and “horrific injustice” in Gaza; falsely accusing the Israel Defense Forces of perpetrating terrorism; smearing the Adelsons; and on and on. Not to be outdone, Carlson added blood libels that over half a million people were killed in Gaza (even Hamas outlets say that the inflated number, including Hamas operatives, is 70,000); and accusing Israel of giving the Soviet Union national security secrets that Jonathan Pollard gave Israel. (In fact, Israel has a long history of giving the U.S. intelligence on Soviet military doctrine, weapons systems, strategic missile arrays, and nuclear systems, etc.) Carlson and Cenk also both asserted that Israel puts Americans through frightening “humiliation rituals,” and Cenk added that Israel is going for “full intimidation” and more.
  • On January 12, 2026, Tucker Carlson gave a podium to and endorsed and fawningly interviewed and repeatedly agreed with anti-Israel, antisemitic fringe Florida gubernatorial candidate James Fishback (polling at 5%). Throughout the interview, Carlson added his own Israel-bashing and Jew-bashing comments. For instance, Carlson falsely accused Florida Governor DeSantis of being “controlled” on foreign policy by [pro-Israel non-Jewish hedge fund donor] “Ken Griffith and the rest of his donors,” and called Florida’s adoption of the IHRA definition “immoral” and “part of an elaborate humiliation ritual where you have to go not just enslave your own people with a hate speech law, which that is, it’s slavery, but you have to go kiss someone else’s wall [the Western Wall in Israel] to show your obedience.” (video, minute 15:49)
  • During the same interview, Carlson condemned philanthropist Dr. Miriam Adelson for being allowed to be a “huge player in American politics.” Fishback then condemned a popular potential Florida gubernatorial primary opponent endorsed by President Trump, pro-Israel Black Republican Congressman Byron Daniels (now polling at 70%), for receiving money from AIPAC. (Fishback of course omitted all the money being poured into anti-Israel politicians by anti-Israel groups.) Incidentally, Tucker’s endorsement and interview of Fishback appeared the day after Fishback racially attacked Congressman Daniels. Fishback’s posts included “By’rone wants to turn Florida into a Section 8 ghetto.”
  • During the interview, Carlson also claimed that Jewish pundit Ben Shapiro had “a total distain and loathing for white Christian men. . . He hates them.” Fishback chimed in that this was because “this entire class of people [Jews] . . . has profited off all of this.” Tucker nodded and said “Exactly.” (minute 48:20)
  • During the interview, both Carlson and Fishback also viciously attacked Republican Jewish Congressman Randy Fine. Fishback stated that “like most things, terrible things start here in Florida with Randy Fine.” Carlson then called Congressman Fine “the genocide guy,” and Fishback likewise called Congressman Fine “the genocide guy.” Fishback also called Israeli Prime Minister a “criminal” and a “depraved little man” and Carlson then immediately stated “I agree.” Carlson also congratulated Fishback for being a threat to Israel. (minute 19:25) And when Fishback stated that on Day One as governor, he would divest Florida from its Israel Bonds investments (which are highly profitable to Florida), Carlson said: “You’ve got my vote. That’s all I need to hear. Amen. Amen.” (minute 20:10)
  • Fishback also apparently falsely portrayed the case of Floridian Palestinian Mohammed Ibrahim to defame Israel. Fishback claimed that Ibrahim was arrested and imprisoned for eight months in Israel “without any evidence, for throwing a rock at an IDF vehicle,” merely based on an accusation. The Jerusalem Post reported that Fishback pleaded guilty to throwing rocks (plural) at Israeli vehicles (plural). But Tucker ignored the facts, and then asked one of his defamation-laden questions: “how can a proxy state that we pay for [Israel] imprison an American citizen without due process”? Fishback responded: “to them, to them [Jews], he’s a second class citizen because he’s a Muslim.” Tucker again opined: “They hate Muslims, that’s only what that’s about.”
  • In January 2026, Carlson’s October 29, 2025 podcast attacking the Trump administration’s actions in Venezuela came to light. Carlson bizarrely claimed that the Trump administration’s anticipated actions against Maduro had nothing to do with Maduro’s treatment of the Venezuelan people, but instead was a “globohomo” project because Venezuela banned gay marriage and sex changes.
  • On January 12, 2026, Tucker Carlson interviewed his own brother, Buckley Carlson, a crude Jew-hater/baiter. (For instance, in December 2025, Buckley mocked a Jewish victim who was shot in the head during the antisemitic terrorist massacre which murdered 15 Jews during a Hanukkah celebration in Australia; and reposted claims that “Zionist networks and intelligence staged shooting incidents,” and described the attack on Australian Jews as “theater,”) During the January 12, 2026 Tucker-Buckley Carlson interview, Buckley called Israel a “forbidden topic” and said that the U.S. was the same as the brutal dictatorship of North Korea. (“We’re fucking North Korea. We are North Koreans.”)
  • During the January 12, 2026 interview, Buckley Carlson and Tucker also portrayed two prominent Jewish conservatives as obsessed with or even hating and stabbing WASPS (White Anglo-Saxon Protestants). (Video, minute 1:57:30) Tucker Carlson stated: “I always feel like he [Frank Luntz] was weird. He kind of hated the wasps. Did you get that from him ever?” Buckley responded: “Yes, I did. It was, I’ve encountered it before, but with him, it was very pronounced.” Tucker added: “Yeah, me too. I’ve encountered it a lot.” Buckley continued while Tucker laughed: “Not just a hate, but an attraction also. Yeah. It was a, yeah, it was like, let me saddle up next to you, and then let me stick a fucking dagger in your kidney. That was the attitude.” Tucker agreed: “Yeah there was something about that. The fact that you were a wasp triggered that, Right?
  • On January 7, 2026, Carlson posted a video that began as Carson’s monologue criticizing the U.S. seizure of Maduro as meaning that the U.S. has “shifted into the imperial phase of empire”; and condemning the U.S. combating antisemitism envoy as only dealing with one group and failing to protect all Americans. (Carlson apparently believes that American Jews are not entitled to protection – despite being the overwhelmingly major target of religion-based hate crimes.) Carlson also attacked the current combatting antisemitism envoy, Rabbi Yehuda Kaploun.
  • Carlson’s January 7 video then showed Carlson interviewing Megyn Kelly. Kelly portrayed a U.S. strike on Islamic Iran as the U.S. becoming “a world invader” and “world policeman” and Trump “wanting to try out the U.S. military.” (No mention was made of Islamic Iran’s threats to the U.S.) Carlson then stated that now is the time “to clear out some of the emotionally unstable lunatics.” Kelly then falsely accused Israel of “cracking down on journalists’ rights to report honestly and openly on what’s happening there” (totally ignoring Israel’s activist press). Kelly also complained that Ben Shapiro called her a coward for not condemning Candace Owens; disparagingly asserted that for certain people, everything centers around Israel; and that it’s “absolutely disgusting” that people want to de-platform people such as Owens and Tucker from CPAC and TPUSA. (Apparently, Kelly wrongly believes that “free speech” requires giving platforms to Israel-hating conspiracy theorists.) Carlson then falsely claimed that Florida law made it a “crime” to criticize Israel.
  • Carlson and Kelly also attacked and blamed pro-Israel Jews, defended antisemites, and spouted radical anti-Israel conspiracy theories. Kelly outrageously claimed that cracking down on “anti-Israel thought crimes” and antisemitism causes more antisemitism; and claimed that it’s not Tucker Carlson’s views on Israel that cause antisemitism, but rather “it’s more the Ben Shapiros and Bari Weiss’s of the world.” (In other words, Jews who fight antisemitism, defend Jews, Israel and America are the cause of antisemitism – not the antisemites.) Carlson added: “There’s a hostility about them, about Mark Levin.” Kelly then called Mark Levin “anti-Christian” because he went after Jack Prosobiec. (Prosobiec had been photographed palling around with antisemite Myron Gaines). Kelly then invoked the original blood libel: “Do you want to start talking about Jesus and the Jews’ role at that time? That’s not going to end well.” Carlson added: “He [Mark Levin] went totally bonkers when you called him out.” Kelly added: “He’s an angry, angry man.” Kelly also said that Carlson’s “heart was in the right place” when he interviewed [neo-Nazi] Nick Fuentes.
  • Kelly also gleefully stated that Candace Owens “drives people crazy” and then spouted a despicable conspiracy theory: “I’m allowed to have questions about what, if anyone aligned with Israel or from Israel, might have had to do with Charlie [Kirk]’s death.” (minute 1:22:18) Kelly also portrayed Jew hating Israel hater Candace Owens as a victim of pro-Israel Jews, saying “I’ve been learning a lot about what’s being done to Candace by some of the people we’ve been discussing, and I’m horrified by what she’s been put through.”
  • The antisemitic trope that Jews, Jewish money and Jewish lies and “narratives” control the media was another common theme of the Carlson/Kelly interview. Kelly viciously attacked Bari Weiss, David and Larry Ellison, CBS Evening News Anchor Tony Dokoupil (“He loves Israel. That’s the agenda of the Ellisons and CBS.”), “Israel front” “neocons,” Miriam Adelson, Republicans who “get rewarded” and “take money” from one group [Jews] for defending Israel, and Fox News (“The Fox News of yesteryear, which just has a knee-jerk response to things like Israel, and things like war, is out of touch with today’s young Republicans. Today’s Republicans, under 50 years old, are over that bullshit. They do not want war cheerleaders or Israel cheerleaders.”)
  • Kelly also admitted that she did not focus on foreign policy; and asserted that she was just “spoon-fed” defending Israel at Fox and “swallowed it” because she didn’t care about the issue, but now she’s “saying, how much of the narrative that is in our news today has been spoon-fed to me by people who are super pro-Israel at all costs, who won’t tell the truth about Israel, no matter what it is” and Tucker agreed. Kelly then “wondered” “how much of the very negative messaging about Muslims . . . but how much of the narrative has just come from people who are just ardently pro-Israel and need me to hate them. [Muslims],” and Carlson responded: “All of it, all of it.”
  • Carlson then launched into a despicable, antisemitic 9-11 conspiracy theory, saying “I think lying is what changes the calculation. So right after 9-11, Brit Hume and Carl Cameron did an amazing series on the dancing Israelis. The Israeli intel operatives who were arrested right across from ground zero, celebrating the falling of the building.” And then all these Israeli intel operatives were swept up in the United States. They had been following the hijackers across the country. It was a big story. And Brit and Carl did this whole series on Special Report for a week, and it was super-interesting and factual. Fox News deleted it from the website, acted like it never happened. . . It was not incorrect. It was correct. That’s why they took it off.” What’s the truth about this?! In fact, the series is readily available on YouTube, and did not claim that Israelis danced and celebrated the fall of the World Trade Center. (The series merely claimed that Israelis with security experience had spied on Arabs in the U.S. and gave a warning to the U.S. about a potential attack that was insufficiently detailed. U.S. security warnings likewise did not know the details. The series also claimed that telephonic equipment from an Israeli company used in the U.S. could be used for security purposes, but there was no evidence that this occurred. Notably, an estimated 350 to 400 Jews (including Israelis) died in the 9-11 attacks – a far greater percentage than the Jews are in the general population.)
  • The January 7, 2026 Carlson/Kelly interview concluded with Kelly attacking Israel for defending itself for two years against attacks from multiple countries. Kelly stated, with Carlson’s approval: “You can blame Israel for this [losing support}. No one can begrudge Israel for fighting back. But it [the war] went on too long. It was too brutal, and into too many different countries, and ultimately it dragged us in, and exposed us. . . . It seems like a thirst for too much. You didn’t try to prevent deaths of civilians in large enough numbers. You turned a generation against you.” In fact, the ratio in this Hamas war of civilian deaths to combatant deaths is 1-1, the lowest ratio of civilians killed in the history of warfare. Israel has done more to protect enemy civilians, endangering their own Israeli soldiers, than any army in history.

According to Kelly’s reasoning, Israel is to blame for attempting to recover its citizens held hostage and having to defend itself from the 30,000 missiles and rockets launched into Israel over the first 600 days of the war by Hamas, Hezbollah, the Houthis and Iranians. (The 30,000 projectiles do not even include Hezbollah’s anti-tank missiles that repeatedly pounded Israel, causing Israelis in the northern cities to evacuate from their homes throughout the war; rockets that fell short; and missiles from Iraq. Kelly’s reasoning also blames Israel for pausing the war to move civilians away from the fighting; and for the Biden administration lengthening the war by insisting for months that Israel should not go into Hamas’ strongholds, cutting off weapons supplies to Israel, and demanding ceasefires that Hamas broke.
