ZOA Urges all Hillels, JCRC’s, Federations to End All Relations With Extremist Anti Israel J Street
Zionist Organization of America (ZOA) National President Morton A. Klein released the following statement:
Once again, J Street has launched another backstabbing attack on Israel and the Jewish people. Despicably, on the eve of Yom HaShoah (Holocaust Memorial Day – which also commemorates the anniversary of the Warsaw Ghetto uprising), J Street called to “rapidly phase out” U.S. military assistance to Israel within two years – by 2028; and to impose deceptive, defamatory, onerous, suicidal-to-Israel “conditions” on arms sales and military cooperation, which would effectively cut off all U.S. military equipment sales to Israel and end all U.S.-Israeli military cooperation.
The bottom line is that J Street is attempting to leave Israel – the home of the majority of the world’s Jewish people – defenseless in the face of her enemies. The timing of J Street’s demand reminds us that the Nazis systematically disarmed the Jewish people prior to the Nazis’ state-sponsored Kristallnacht mass pogrom, which marked the Nazis’ transition to violent extermination of the Jewish people. As noted in the dissenting opinions in Silveira v. Lockyer (U.S. Court of Appeals Ninth Circuit 2003): “All too many of the other great tragedies of history – Stalin’s atrocities, the killing fields of Cambodia, the Holocaust, to name but a few -were perpetrated by armed troops against unarmed populations. . . . If a few hundred Jewish fighters in the Warsaw Ghetto could hold off the Wehrmacht for almost a month with only a handful of weapons, six million Jews armed with rifles could not so easily have been herded into cattle cars.”
J Street is misleadingly attempting to justify its call for rapid phase out of U.S. financial military assistance by 2028 (the end of the current U.S.-Israeli Memorandum of Understanding – the “MOU”) by portraying J Street’s demand as “supported by” Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu (as well as by anti-Israel officials such as Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez).
However, Netanyahu never sought such a rapid shut-off of American aid. In an early January 2026 interview in the Economist (prior to the recent battles with Iran), PM Netanyahu merely talked about negotiating in 2028 a tapering-off of American financial aid over the next ten-year MOU period (2029-2038). Netanyahu furthermore does not support the conditions on military cooperation and equipment sales that J Street seeks to impose in order to cut off all cooperation and sales.
It is also horrifying that J Street’s missive comes at a time when Israel has suffered massive damage and expended so many of its weapons defending itself from the Islamic Iranian regime and its proxies. Iranian regime ballistic and cluster missiles recently killed 26 Israelis and wounded close to 7,500 Israelis – mostly civilians, including young Jewish babies and children (between February 29 and April 10, 2026). Iranian regime missiles killed another 30 Israelis and wounded close to 3,500 Israelis in the 12-day war in June 2025. Recent Hezbollah mass launches of rockets and drones at northern Israel (50 launches in just one recent day) have been murdering and injuring more Israelis. Hamas continues to rearm and daily violate the Gaza ceasefire, as Hamas leaders insist that the battle is continuing – just as Hamas violated the July 2025 ceasefire and every other ceasefire. Palestinian Arab terrorists continue to perpetrate hundreds of terror attacks on Jews every month.. Israeli homes and property in the north, south and throughout the country have been massively damaged and destroyed by missile and other attacks in recent weeks and the last two and a half years.
The multiple “conditions” that J Street seeks to impose on military cooperation and sales include requiring Israel to give up Israel’s lawful, historic land to form a Palestinian Arab terror state – which would be suicidal for Israel; and so-called “Israeli compliance” with the 20-point Gaza ceasefire – despite Hamas’ daily violations of the ceasefire including refusing to disarm. In other words, Israel would not be able to fight back against Hamas terrorists who cross the yellow line to attack Israelis.
In addition, J Street’s “conditions” include preventing alleged “settler violence” – despite the fact that J Street’s and its fellow anti-Israel NGOs’ assertions of “settler violence” are defamatory. As the Regavim study demonstrated, the so-called “settler violence” consists of Jewish civilians defending themselves from Arab terror attacks; IDF clashes with Arab terrorists; and even Jewish tourists and hikers, civilians walking in a forest without doing any damage, etc. See Morton Klein’s December 2025 testimony before Congress regarding Judea and Samaria, pages 21-24, summarizing the Regavim study. Thus, J Street’s plan would use false claims of “settler violence” to cut off Israel from military sales and cooperation.
In addition, J Street’s “conditions” would enable false allegations of Israeli “human rights violations” to be used to cut off Israel from military sales and cooperation.
J Street has thus once again demonstrated that it is a dangerous, extremist enemy of Israel and the Jewish people. And therefore, the ZOA urges that the Hillels, JCRC’s and federations do the right pro Israel thing and end all relations with the anti-Israel, anti-peace extremist Soros-funded J Street. Enough of giving legitimacy and credibility to this radical group.
