Zionist Organization of America (ZOA) National President Morton A. Klein released the following statement:

The Zionist Organization of America (ZOA) has urged the National Council for History Education (NCHE), a federally funded non-profit organization that provides resources to educators and educational organizations, to revise a lesson plan riddled with factual inaccuracies and anti-Israel bias. The lesson plan – titled “Plan Displacement and Resistance: The Nakba of 1948 Continues” – downplays and ignores critical facts about Israel in order to deny the Jewish state’s right to exist and its right to defend its people from violence and terrorism.

In a letter sent on August 10, 2026, to NCHE, the ZOA noted that the lesson plan violates the organization’s own mission to support “accurate” and “inclusive” teaching and learning of “complex histories.” The ZOA also cautioned that as a recipient of federal funds, NCHE must ensure that its programs and activities are free from antisemitic discrimination as required by Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, or risk losing its federal funding.
