ZOA: Democratic Leaders Must Publicly Condemn U.S. & Israeli Flag Burnings Outside DNC
News Press Release
July 28, 2016

The Zionist Organization of America (ZOA) has condemned the vile and deeply disturbing burning of U.S. and Israeli flags outside the Democratic National Convention at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia by a mob shouting “intifada” or terror war against Israeli Jews, and called upon Democratic leaders to publicly condemn these acts.  According to reports, some 2,000 people, predominantly disappointed supporters of Democratic presidential candidate Senator Bernie Sanders (D–VT), marched on the Convention to vent their anger over recent controversies. The Wall Street Journal’s Byron Tau, on the scene at the time, tweeted that, “Protesters are burning an Israeli flag now in front of the secure perimeter and chanting ‘intifada.’”

PJ Media Editor-At-Large Liz Sheld reported that, “Protestors outside the Democrat National Convention burned an Israeli flag, chanting ‘intifada’ and ‘Go home, f*** Hillary!’” … Most recently, leaked emails revealed by WikiLeaks showed the staffers at the Democrat National Committee were irritated they had to commemorate the Holocaust for Yom Hashoah(Liz Sheld, ‘Israeli Flag Set on Fire Outside DNC,’ PJ Media, July 27, 2014).

This a moment for Democrats to fight the vicious and hateful element trying to hijack the party into abandoning its historic support for Israel.

ZOA National President Morton A. Klein said, “It is disturbing and revolting to see American and Israeli flags burned by disgruntled Democratic activists who did not get their preferred candidate and who seem to think that America and Israel are the worst countries in the world.

We demand that Democratic leaders publicly condemn this outrageous flag-burning outside the Democratic National Convention. This a moment for Democrats to fight the vicious and hateful element trying to hijack the party into abandoning its historic support for Israel.”
