The Zionist Organization of America (ZOA) has praised Florida Governor Ron DeSantis for appointing to the Florida Supreme Court Robert J. Luck, who is also the first Jewish justice appointed to the Florida Supreme Court in more than 20 years. Governor DeSantis made the announcement appointing Judge Luck at Scheck Hillel Community School in Miami, a prominent Jewish school.

Robert J. Luck served as a legislative correspondent for Senator Jon Kyl (R–AZ), one of the great Congressional supporters of Israel and someone who was one of the initial authors of the Jerusalem Embassy Act (1995) mandating the relocation of the U.S. embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, a move carried out by President Donald Trump last year. Judge Luck subsequently became a Miami federal prosecutor. He served as a judge on the 11th Circuit Court (2013-17), being appointed to that position by former Florida Governor Rick Scott at the age of only 34. Judge Luck currently serves on the 3rd District Court of Appeals, to which he was appointed by Governor Scott in 2017 at the age of 37.

ZOA National President Morton A. Klein said, “We applaud Governor DeSantis’ choice of Judge Robert J. Luck to fill a vacancy on the Florida Supreme Court. Robert J. Luck is a brilliant jurist with an astonishing record of service and achievement in his relatively few years at the bar and on the bench. It is remarkable what he has achieved in both and especially so when one reflects that he is not yet forty years old. He is also a Judge who will strictly adhere to the Constitution and not legislate from the bench based on what his personal views may be.  Judge Luck strongly respects the rule of law and will not be an “activist” judge who ignores what the framers and legislators intended.
