Zionist Organization of America (ZOA) National President and child of Holocaust survivors Morton A. Klein released the following statement:
Israeli-American activist, Betar leader and ZOA Coalition member Ronn Torossian’s recent exposé, “Where Schindler’s List Money Went” (June 22, 2026), is truly heartbreaking reading. Using IRS 990 filings, Mr. Torossian’s exposé documents that director Steven Spielberg’s “Righteous Persons Foundation,” which was funded with the profits from Spielberg’s Schindler’s List Holocaust film, has been granting millions of dollars to far-left “Jewish” organizations that bash and endanger Israel and Jews.
This misuse of monies from Spielberg’s Holocaust film is despicable, shameful and frightening.
The brave German industrialist Oskar Schindler and the Jews whom Schindler saved must be rolling over in their graves. The descendants of “Schindler’s Jews” are now endangered by the organizations funded with Spielberg’s profits. Mr. Torossian’s exposé lists these hostile-to-Israel organizations and the amounts Spielberg’s foundation recently gave them as follows:
“Bend the Arc — $1.2 million. The largest domestic progressive Jewish advocacy organization. Publicly opposes the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) definition of antisemitism. Its 501(c)(4) political arm is chaired by Alex Soros, son of George Soros. . . . In September 2025, Bend the Arc gave its first-ever mayoral endorsement to Zohran Mamdani, . . . The endorsement decision was made inside Bend the Arc’s 501(c)(4) political arm, chaired by Alex Soros. . . . Bend the Arc raised money for him [Mamdani]. Bend the Arc canvassed for him. Bend the Arc bought television advertising for him. In its own post-election communications, the organization claimed credit for shaping the result: “With support from people like you, Bend the Arc helped shape this monumental victory with our air game and ground game.”
T’ruah: The Rabbinic Call for Human Rights — approximately $690,000. Has organized street blockades against Israel’s military campaign in Gaza. Chief executive Rabbi Jill Jacobs has called Israeli military operations “war crimes.” . . . Documented positions: . . . [Claims] Israel maintains “violent military occupation” since 1967. Frames ending occupation as core Jewish religious obligation. . . . Called continued [Gaza] war and military reoccupation “morally indefensible” and incompatible with Jewish values. . . Characterized Israel’s aid restrictions [to avoid Hamas seizing aid] as collective punishment. . . . Palestinian Prisoners: Demanded investigations into alleged abuse in Israeli custody. [Anti-Israel NGO] Breaking the Silence Partnership: Co-produces material on Israeli occupation with Israeli soldiers and Palestinian civilians. IHRA Opposition: April 2025, co-signed letter opposing Antisemitism Awareness Act.”
Jews United for Justice — approximately $925,000. Opponents of the IHRA definition. Have signed letters arguing that Jewish institutions worldwide should be “held accountable” for Palestinian conditions.
Jewish Social Justice Roundtable — approximately $250,000. Umbrella coalition coordinating messaging, legislative strategy, and joint advocacy across the network.”
These groups have perpetrated many more harmful, egregious actions. For instance, in the midst of wartime, T’ruah and similar hostile groups campaigned for resolutions to block arms sales to Israel, thereby endangering Jewish lives. T’ruah has also run a years-long campaign, making common cause with the anti-Israel “Squad,” to defame and persuade the IRS to remove the tax-exempt status of Jewish humanitarian charities that provide care for special needs persons, provide hunger and poverty relief, help bereaved families, etc. (See “Far-left Rabbis’ Defamatory War Against Pro-Israel Jewish Charities,” by Morton A. Klein and Elizabeth A. Berney, Esq., JNS, May 4, 2022.) T’ruah also actively perpetrates the “settler violence” blood libel – which portrays Palestinian Arab attacks on Jews and Jews and tourists peacefully hiking in Judea-Samaria, etc., as “settler violence.” (See, e.g., “Stop Spreading the ‘Settler Violence’ Libel,” by Morton Klein, JNS, Apr. 12, 2026.)
We reviewed the grants listed in Spielberg’s foundation’s tax filings, and found grants to additional hostile-to-Israel groups. For instance, the foundation supports the Jewish Council for Public Affairs, which recently spearheaded a letter (signed by other Spielberg foundation grantees) condemning the Trump administration’s efforts to stop Hamas-supporters from attacking Jews on college campuses. (See “Non-Orthodox Movements Sign Letter Standing with Campus Hamas Supporters: The Final Betrayal,” by Daniel Greenfield, JNS, Apr. 17, 2025.)
By contrast, Spielberg’s “Righteous Persons Foundation” apparently gives no grants to Jewish organizations that defend Israel against libels and demonization, protect Jewish students on college campuses, protect Jewish safety, and truly stand up for the besieged Jewish descendants of Holocaust victims and survivors. Shameful.
