Zionist Organization of America (ZOA) National President Morton A. Klein released the following statement:
It is despicable that President Joe Biden is opposing necessary Israeli counter-action against Islamic terrorist nation Iran (a U.S.-designated state sponsor of terrorism) after Iran and its proxies in Yemen and Iraq launched approximately 350 killer drones, cruise missiles and ballistic missiles carrying over 60 tons of explosives at Israel that could have done tremendous damage to Israeli homes and infrastructure, and that could have murdered countless Jewish and other Israelis.
Israel miraculously escaped the worst possible outcome of Iran’s attack this weekend: Israel’s missile defense systems and the cooperation by Israel, the U.S. and other partners, possibly with the help of G-d Almighty, shot down 99% of Iran’s drones and missiles. Iran’s advance notice via Turkey to the U.S. of the drone and missile attack also helped Israel and its partners deflect it.
But escaping attempted murder and disaster this time is not a “win” that warrants Biden telling Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to just “take the win,” and leave Iran’s ability to launch the next terrible attack intact. Escaping murder and disaster this time does not warrant Biden essentially saying, “Don’t” to Israel and informing Netanyahu that the U.S. will not participate in or support any offensive Israeli operation against Islamic Iran.
Iranian President Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi has already threatened harsher attacks next time if Israel dares to lift a finger in self-defense against Iran’s and its proxies’ persistent terror operations against Israel. Likewise, Iran’s UN mission threatened: “Should the Israeli regime make another mistake, Iran’s response will be considerably more severe.” (Israel’s “mistake” was killing IRGC generals in Syria who helped plan 10/7 and were in the midst of planning more terror operations against Israel.) Similarly, Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) Chief Commander Hossein Salami stated that the attack this past weekend was merely a “limited action,” and threatened far more extensive attacks on Israel if Israel interferes with any Iranian “interests.” Iran can deem anything and everything to interfere with its “interests.” And next time, Iran will act without notice, making cooperation by Israel’s partners far more difficult.
Iran is moreover the “head of the snake” – which funds, arms and trains its proxies Hamas, Hezbollah, the Houthis, and Iraqi militias to attack Israel and American posts. If Biden really wants to curtail terror and “escalation” in the Middle East, Biden thus should be supporting strong offensive action against Iran to prevent already-threatened Iranian and Iranian-proxy attacks. Biden should also stop giving Iran tens of billions of dollars and stop ignoring the sanctions placed on Iran. Biden’s failure to enforce sanctions has provided Iran with an estimated $100 billion, which Iran has used to fund and arm Hamas, Hezbollah, and other Iranian proxies.
In addition, Iran is on the verge of achieving its goal of obtaining nuclear weapons. Now is an ideal time – maybe the only time – to stop Iran from being able to launch ballistic missiles loaded with nuclear warheads at Israel or at the U.S. Biden’s refusal to support Israeli offensive action against Iran contradicts Biden’s repeated pledges to partner with Israel to “prevent Iran from ever acquiring a nuclear weapon.” (See, e.g., “Readouts of President Joe Biden’s Calls with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel,” on July 17, 2023 and September 20, 2023.)
We also cannot afford to underestimate the damage done by the Iranian attack or how Iran may use the knowledge it gained from the attack to improve its ability to destroy Israel and murder Jews. Iranian missiles were able to inflict minor damage on the Nevatim Airbase. Shrapnel severely injured a seven-year-old Bedouin-Israeli girl, who is now being treated in Soroka Hospital. Over a million Israelis had to huddle in bomb shelters in fear. The Iranian attack ratcheted up treacherous demonstrations in U.S. cities calling for “Marg bar Amreeka; Marg bar Yisrael!” (“Death to America; Death to Israel!”)
Iranian press outlets are trumpeting that Israel spent billions of dollars and depleted defensive equipment to repel Iran’s drones and missiles; and that Israel’s responses revealed locations and capabilities of Israeli defenses. The Iranian press is citing a UN expert’s opinion that the attack demonstrated that a similar, sustained Iranian drone attack of over three to five days would cause Israel to exhaust its defensive missiles, leaving Israel defenseless. After exhausting Israel’s defensive missiles with swarms of drones, Iranian ballistic missiles could then destroy Israel. (See “Deflecting Iran Attack Cost Billions, Israel, US Can’t Repeat It: Former UN Inspector,” Iran Press News Agency, Apr. 15, 2024.)
We need to remember that before Iranian-proxy Hamas launched the October 7 atrocities and attack on Israel, Hamas tested and probed Israel’s defenses and figured out how to overwhelm those defenses. After previously launching a maximum of approximately 300 rockets on any day, Hamas launched 4,500 rockets in 10 days in May 2021 (500 rockets a day, killing 13 Israelis). Israel’s missile defense was still approximately 90% effective. Then, on October 7, 2023, Hamas launched 2,200 to 3,000 rockets in the first 20 minutes of its assault, reportedly overwhelming Israel’s Iron Dome System, which was not fully effective against this. (See also “What Happened To Iron Dome? A Lesson On The Limits Of Technology At War,” by Patrick Sullivan and John Amble, West Point Modern War Institute, Oct. 10, 2023.) Hamas also probed Israel’s defenses during repeated riots at the Gaza border fence prior to October 7.
We also dare not believe Iran’s statement to the UN that following its launch of 350 drones and missiles at Israel “the matter can be deemed concluded.” Iran has clearly not given up its plans and operations to destroy the Jewish state or the United States.
Why has Biden intentionally strengthened Iran since day one of his administration, and been attempting to provide “humanitarian aid” to Gaza, when he knows that Hamas steals the vast majority of this aid? Is there a sinister antisemitic answer to this question, especially when Biden is now attempting to protect Iran from a strong Israeli response and is protecting Hamas by demanding a unilateral, unconditional ceasefire and demanding that Israel not enter Rafah, and illegally finding ways to provide the terrorist Palestinian Authority regime with $800 million (violating the Taylor Force Act), and demanding a Palestinian State — which would surely be a dangerous terror state run by terrorist dictator Mahmoud Abbas and Hamas?
