ZOA Strongly Condemns Ireland, Spain, Norway, Etc. for Recognition of “Palestinian” Terror State

Zionist Organization of America (ZOA) National President Morton A. Klein released the following statement:

It is outrageous that Ireland and Spain, along with Slovenia, Malta, Norway are expected to announce today that they will recognize a Palestinian terror state, which will be a dictatorship. These evil, Israel-hating announcements encourage antisemitic violence and reward genocidal terrorists, including Hamas, Palestine Islamic Jihad, and accompanying Gazan civilian terrorists and Palestinian Authority terrorists, for butchering and holding hostage innocent Israelis.

ZOA has repeatedly explained that a Palestinian state would be another Iranian-proxy terror state, which would threaten Israel’s survival and place Israel’s major population centers within close rocket range. Just look at who would govern such an entity: The Palestinian Authority, which pays terrorists lifetime pensions to murder innocent Jews (“Pay to Slay”) and persistently indoctrinates Arabs to kill Jews, from childhood onwards. And/or Iranian proxy Hamas, whose charter calls for Israel’s destruction and the murder of every Jew throughout the world. Giving these Jew-hating, America-hating terrorists a state doesn’t make them a lovely, peaceful regime. Iran, North Korea, Syria, and Somalia are states. Are they peace-loving regimes? A state only gives them more power to promote their violent, ugly agenda!

Palestinian Arab leaders have repeatedly rejected extraordinarily generous offers for a state on Israel’s lawful lands – because a negotiated state meant ending the Palestinian Arabs’ hostilities to destroy Israel, and recognizing Israel as a Jewish State. The Palestinian Arabs thus rejected “land for peace.” Instead, they want “free land for more war.” Recognizing a state now would simply enable the Palestinian Arabs to continue their hostilities to destroy the Jewish state, from a stronger and larger base.

An Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs post urged Ireland to say “no” to recognition, and explained: “Recognizing a Palestinian state risks turning you into a pawn of Iran and Hamas. Such a move will only strengthen Hamas. . . The fact that Hamas Nazi leaders are thanking you should serve as a wake-up call. Your actions will only fuel extremism and instability. . . .  Don’t be pawns in the hands of Hamas.”

Similarly, Israeli Diaspora Affairs Minister Amichai Chikli warned Spain while speaking in Madrid recently: “Unfortunately, the current prime minister of Spain, Sanchez, believes that the Palestinians should be rewarded for the massacre — that this is the time to give them a state. . . It is important to highlight some crucial facts about the Palestinian Authority,” said Chikli. “Not a single senior official of the Palestinian Authority has condemned the barbaric massacre of Hamas. Not a single one.” In fact, they’ve bragged about their Fatah members having participated in the slaughter of Jews.

Unfortunately, Ireland has a shameful anti-Israel, antisemitic history. In WWII, Ireland closed its doors to Jews seeking to escape certain death at the hands of the Nazis.

In November, after Hamas released nine-year-old Irish-Israeli hostage Emily Hand during the swap of some of the Israeli hostages for convicted Palestinian Arab terrorists, Irish Prime Minister Leo Varadkar downplayed this reality, and merely wrote: “An innocent child who was lost has now been found and returned.” Israeli government spokesman Eylon Levy aptly responded, “Emily Hand wasn’t ‘lost.’ She was brutally abducted by the death squads that massacred her neighbors. She wasn’t ‘found.’ Hamas knew where she was all along and cynically held her as a hostage.”

Recognizing a Palestinian state also violates international law.

Interestingly, Ireland’s Foreign Ministry and Permanent Mission to the United Nations declare that “The principles and values enshrined in the UN Charter are those we [Ireland] have always striven to promote.” Notably, the UN Charter continued intact the Jewish people’s binding legal rights under the Mandate to the land of Israel (including Judea/Samaria and Gaza) and the Jewish people’s right that none of this territory “shall be ceded or leased to, or in any way placed under the control of, the Government of any foreign Power.” Thus, Ireland’s recognition of a Palestinian state would violate the UN Charter that Ireland claims it promotes.

And Spain was a member of the League of Nations when the League established the Mandate guaranteeing all of present-day Israel, including Gaza and Judea/Samaria (and present-day Jordan) to the Jewish people. Spain’s recognition of a Palestinian state would thus violate the Jewish people’s binding international legal rights that Spain agreed to.

It’s horrifying that Ireland and Spain have again turned their backs on the Jewish people, in favor of genocidal Arab thugs, while Israel is fighting for its survival.
