Zionist Organization of America (ZOA) National President Morton A. Klein released the following statement:
I am a child of Holocaust survivors, born in a displaced persons camp in Germany, having lost most of my aunts, uncles, cousins and grandparents to the monstrous, mindless, irrational hatred of Jews. This hatred of Jews is similar to the Jew-hatred on campuses and around the world, concentrated in Arab Muslim countries.
Holocaust Remembrance Day reminds us that eighty years after the Holocaust, the Jewish people are still contending with modern-day Nazis — the Islamic Republic of Iran and its Arab/Islamic terror proxies — whose sole sick goal is to humiliate, murder and destroy the Jewish people and the Jewish State, and the West as well. We are still contending with a world that is too often indifferent to Jewish suffering, and instead appeases and believes the lies of Jew-hating terrorists. We are also now contending with awful surrender deals — the Munich deals of our time. The Holocaust has taught us that appeasement always fails. As Churchill said: “Those who appease the crocodile will simply be eaten last.” The Oslo and Gaza withdrawal policies have only resulted in more maiming and murder by Arabs and Muslims of Jews, while the world’s respect for the Jewish State has declined.
I’m afraid that releasing thousands of bloodthirsty terrorists, including those convicted of murdering Jews, will cost more Jewish lives than we’re saving when these terrorists will surely return to terror. On Holocaust Remembrance Day, we often speak about how things are different now, because thankfully the Jewish people have the State of Israel to protect us now. We desperately must restore Israel’s ability to assure the Jewish people of “Never Again!”
